Educational Estimates Only
All wage, overtime, and pension comparisons presented by this tool are educational estimates compiled from publicly available municipal collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and official city pay scales. Figures do not represent guaranteed salary offers, binding employment terms, or legal or financial advice.
No Guarantee of Accuracy
Municipal pay schedules, pension tiers, and stipend structures change frequently through contract renegotiations and legislative action. The data in this tool reflects our best-effort compilation at the time of publication and may not reflect the most current contract terms. Always verify current compensation directly with the hiring fire department's human resources office before making career or relocation decisions.
Municipal Source Citations
City compensation data is derived from the following categories of public sources:
- Published municipal collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) between cities and firefighter unions.
- Official city human-resources pay schedules and salary ordinances.
- Public pension system documents (e.g., LAFPP, CalPERS, NYC Fire Pension Fund, Texas Fire & Police Pension).
- State Department of Revenue tax rate publications (2024 tax year).
- Cost-of-living indices from publicly available regional price parity data (U.S. average = 100).
Specific source documents are available from each city's official website or through public records requests. We do not host or claim ownership of these source documents.
